Wildlife Removal in Endicott, NY — IBM Area and EJ Worker Housing

Endicott is where IBM started. Thomas J. Watson Sr. built the company's first major campus here, and the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company had already covered the village with worker housing before IBM arrived. The IBM Park neighborhood along North Street, the older homes on the hillside of North Endicott, and the original EJ worker cottages throughout the village — all of it is 1910s to 1950s construction. All of it has bats.

Endicott sees steady bat pressure, as consistent as anywhere in Broome County. Big Brown Bat colonies in the IBM Park area and North Endicott hillside homes call us every year. The old EJ cottages — particularly the smaller ones built for lower-wage workers in the 1920s — have the most access issues: narrow fascia, original wood louvers, and chimney flashing that has been moving with the freeze-thaw cycle for a century.

Wildlife Calls We Handle in Endicott

North Endicott and the Hillside Neighborhoods

North Endicott — the hillside area rising above the main village — has a mix of 1920s bungalows and later 1950s ranch homes. The older bungalows on Endwell Road, McKinley Avenue, and the surrounding streets are prime bat territory. The newer ranch-style homes from the 1950s are less prone but still have the original attic gable vents that become deteriorated over time. Inspections on all of it are part of what we do every week.

One Endicott note: the North Endicott hillside area drains toward the river and had significant flooding damage in 2011. Homes that experienced roof or attic water intrusion and were repaired quickly sometimes had repairs that introduced new bat entry points — work done in a hurry is not always done right. If your home had flood repairs in 2011 and you have never had a bat inspection since, add that to the reason to call us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you service the Endwell area just east of Endicott?

Yes. Endwell is adjacent to Endicott and we cover it regularly. Same older housing stock, same bat and wildlife patterns. Call us at (607) 251-0096 for service anywhere in eastern Broome County.

My IBM-era home has never been inspected for bats. What should I expect?

An inspection takes about an hour and covers the full exterior roofline and the attic interior. In older Endicott homes, we find active colonies about half the time. Positive or negative, you walk away with a clear report and no surprise fees. Inspection is $75–$100 and is often applied to the cost of exclusion work if you book.
